Michelle started singing on stage when she did her first-ever solo session at the tender age of 5 at her school's Christmas Nativity. Since then she has sung in school and church choirs until she joined her first professional band, a reggae band called Watusi, when aged 14 with her older sister. They also sang together in a Calypso band touring the country learning their craft by performing in Working Men's Clubs
Upon her return to the UK, Michelle sang with several other bands, including lead vocals with Still Dancing, a Soul band formed in the 80s, before going to work abroad for several months with World Machine
She then joined The Goosehorns in the early 90s when after several months of trying to find her, it transpired that she lived two doors away from the outgoing lead singer and the rest they say is history!
